The Dutch government said today that it has intervened in semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia due to concerns that key technologies may be transferred to its Chinese parent company Wingtech.

Reuters reported that Nexperia mainly produces chips used in automobiles and consumer electronics.

The Dutch Ministry of Economy pointed out that this intervention is aimed at the company's administrative deficiencies and will allow the government to reverse or prevent harmful decisions when necessary, but the company's daily production operations can continue to operate.

A spokesman for Nexperia said that the company has always complied with "all relevant laws and regulations, export controls and sanctions."

Nexperia is a global heavyweight manufacturer of simple computer chips. Its products include basic components such as diodes and transistors.

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs stated in a statement that this intervention was carried out in accordance with the relevant laws to ensure the supply of critical supplies in critical moments. It is an "extremely special" situation and may be challenged by appeals in the future.
