Samsung is expected to return to the "dual-chip strategy" in the Galaxy S26 series in 2026, equipped with both Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and its own Exynos 2600. According to Qualcomm’s latest statement, Exynos 2600 will only be used in a small number of models, and Qualcomm’s flagship chips will account for the majority of the Galaxy S26 series.
When asked, if Android customers (Samsung) may switch to internally developed modems, what impact will it have on Qualcomm's business? Qualcomm said that in the past few years, the normal ratio of cooperation between the two parties was about 50%, but the new benchmark is about 75%.
Qualcomm emphasized, "We achieved 100% share in Galaxy S25. For any new generation of Galaxy, our assumption is 75%, which also applies to Galaxy S26." This also shows Qualcomm's absolute confidence in its own Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip compared to Samsung's self-developed Exynos 2600.
It is worth noting that the Exynos 2600 performed well in pre-launch benchmark tests, even competing with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Exynos 2600 adopts a ten-core architecture, divided into three clusters "1 + 3 + 6". According to the latest engineering sample test results that appeared on Geekbench 6, the fastest single core clock reached 4.20GHz, the three performance cores ran at 3.56GHz, and the remaining six cores were adjusted to 2.76GHz. In the Geekbench 6 core test, the single-core performance of the Exynos 2600 was comparable to that of the Apple M5.
However, Samsung still seems not confident enough in the overall performance of Exynos 2600 in actual use, which is why Qualcomm seems so confident, predicting that its own chips will account for about 75% of the Galaxy S26 series.
