Official news, the 54-year-old former Everton coach Dyche coaches Nottingham Forest. He is the third official head coach that the Forest has welcomed this season. Subsequently, Nottingham Forest’s official website introduced Dyche’s coaching team.
The last time Nottingham Forest participated in a European competition was in the 1/4-finals of the Europa League between Nottingham Forest and Bayern in the 1995/96 season. In that game, Ian Vaughan and Steve Stone both played for the team. Before Igor Jesus, Stone was Nottingham Forest's last European scorer, scoring against Bayern Munich.
Both Vaughan and Stone worked under Dyche during their coaching careers. Vaughan followed Dyche from Watford to Burnley and then to Everton; while Stone began working with Dyche at Burnley in 2018 and went to Everton together in 2023.
Now, Vaughan and Stone have returned to Nottingham Forest. They played for Nottingham Forest for ten years and played more than 400 times, helping the club achieve the best results in the Premier League in the 1994/95 season and advance to the Europa League quarter-finals in the 1995/96 season.
In addition to Stone and Vaughan, Billy Messer and Tony Lauchlan will also join Dyche's coaching team. This means that the entire new coaching staff has experience working with Nottingham Forest. Lauchlan played for the club from 1989 to 1993, while Messer went on loan to Nottingham Forest in 1995.
