1. The vocal cords are not fully developed yet

Dogs generally start barking one and a half to three months after birth. If the dog is less than three months old, it will not bark. Because its vocal cords are not fully developed at this time, it cannot scream. It will naturally start to scream after it is three months old.

2. Nervous and fearful

If the dog has just arrived at a new home, because it is unfamiliar with the new environment, it will choose to hide when it feels nervous and scared, and is unwilling to bark. At this time, the owner needs to comfort the dog more and play with it more so that it can become familiar with the environment as soon as possible.

3. Personality reasons

Some dogs, such as golden retrievers, Labradors, Alaskans, pugs, schnauzers, bichon frizes, etc., do not like to bark naturally because of their relatively gentle personalities. Therefore, sometimes their owners misunderstand that they do not bark. This situation is very common and normal.

4. Teeth or oral problems

Dogs with tooth problems or oral diseases will suddenly stop barking, and will also be accompanied by symptoms of decreased appetite. At this time, the owner can open the dog's mouth and check whether there are any abnormalities in the teeth, oral mucosa, gums, etc. If there are any abnormalities, he needs to go to the pet hospital for examination and treatment immediately.

5. Sick

If the dog is sick, such as a cold, parasite infection, etc., it will suddenly become lethargic, stop eating, drinking, and barking because of physical discomfort.
