Today, West Ham United announced on the club's official website that team defender Michael Forbes joined Northampton on loan for one season.

Club wrote: West Ham United can confirm that young defender Michael Forbes has joined the League One team Northampton on loan for one season. The 21-year-old Northern Ireland international will usher in his third senior team loan experience. Previously, he played for Bristol Rangers and Colchester United last season.

Forbes moved to West Ham United from Northern Ireland club Dungannen Swift in 2020 and signed his first professional contract in May 2022. He served as captain in the U18 and U21 echelons, with a total of 72 appearances. In November 2023, Forbes made his first appearance for the Northern Ireland national team in the 2024 European Cup qualifiers against Finland.

In Northampton, Forbes will work with former West Ham captain and coach Kevin Nolan. Nolan has led Northampton to relegation successfully since taking over the team in December last year. West Ham recently played against Northampton in the preseason, with the two sides tied 0-0, and Forbes played in this game.

All members of West Ham United wish Michael Forbes all the best during his loan period in League One and look forward to his continued progress in Northampton.
