It was cold, and after heating, the air quality was obviously worse. As the leader in the haze removal industry, the air purifier has mature technology and a high market share. It is generally composed of a fan + pre-filter + multiple filters with different functions. The filter is the main function, but the filter will absorb a lot of dust during use and needs to be cleaned and maintained regularly. Otherwise, the purification effect of the air purifier will become worse and even the noise will become greater. I just ask if you are afraid! If you don’t change the filter, your air purifier will be in vain. Let’s take a look with the editor below.
First, see if the filter needs to be replaced
1. Judging from the filter usage cycle prompted by the product;
2. The air volume at the air outlet drops significantly and the noise becomes larger;
3. The pm2.5 measured at the air outlet becomes significantly higher;
4. There is a significant odor in the air outlet;
5. The color changes, the filter (especially HEPA) should be replaced as soon as possible after the color of the filter (especially HEPA) turns black.
To ensure safety before cleaning the filter, before preparing for cleaning, you must first disconnect the power supply, refer to the instruction manual, open the air purifier filter cabin door, and take out the filter in turn. If you don’t know the type of filter cabin at home, you can refer to the instruction manual, or after power off, open the filter cover to check the identification information on the filter and start cleaning.
Pre-filter
Pre-filter (also known as pre-filter/primary filter) is the first filter of the air purifier and the most easily dirtier filter.
Cleaning cycle: According to the frequency of use, it is usually more appropriate to clean 1-2 times a month.
The cleaning steps are: wipe/suck, wash, and dry.
Special operation: Use a rag/vacuum cleaner to clear the dust away. If you feel that the cleaning is not thorough enough, you can also rinse it with water and remember to use a soft brush.
Activated Carbon Filter
Activated Carbon Filter, its main function is to remove volatile organic compounds formaldehyde, toluene, etc., as well as to remove odor and deodorization.
Cleaning cycle: It is recommended to clean and dry at least once a month for newly decorated users, rainy season in the south, and rainy season in the north; other situations can be appropriately adjusted according to the frequency of use.
The cleaning steps are: wipe/suck and dry.
Special operation: The dust on the surface of the activated carbon filter can be wiped with a dry rag or cleaned with a vacuum cleaner at a low level. Due to the special nature of the activated carbon pore structure and solidity, if there is no clear explanation, it is not recommended to wash water.
Place the cleaned filter in outdoor sunlight and expose the front and back sides to the sun for 2-3 hours respectively to warm up and "desorb" it to achieve the effect of "regeneration" of activated carbon. Although the effect is limited and the fate of being replaced after 3-4 exposures to the sun cannot be rewritten, regular cleaning is still necessary to maintain the purification effect of the filter and reduce the risk of secondary pollution.
HEPA filter
HEPA high-efficiency air filter, which has the characteristics of large wind resistance, large dust capacity and high filtration accuracy.
Cleaning cycle: According to the frequency of use and pollution status, it is usually cleaned once every 1-2 months, and the cleaning time can also be judged based on the cumulative use time.
The cleaning steps are: suck/wipe and dry.
Special operation: Since the HEPA filter material generally belongs to the paper category, if there is no specific marking, it cannot be washed and cleaned by water, otherwise it will change the pore structure of the filter screen or even cause blockage, which will directly affect the purification effect.
You can use a vacuum cleaner to clean the dust on the surface of the filter (except for glass fiber HEPA) or gently wipe it with a dry cloth or tissue, and dry it appropriately. UV sterilization can also be performed if possible; but if you find that the original white filter is black, you must replace it as soon as possible, and be careful not to scratch the surface of the filter when cleaning.
After all cleaning, install it again. It is necessary to note that the removed parts and filters are installed in the order from inside to outside (be careful not to install them in reverse). After confirming that they are correct, power on and start the test. Some brands need to reset the filters if they replace them. Answers to various filter questions:
Filters are replaced directly at the time. Is it necessary to clean it? The
pre-filter mesh is in the shape of a wire mesh and can be reused. It mainly intercepts large particles of debris and pollutants such as dust, hair, and dandruff. If not cleaned up in time, it will affect the air inlet and affect CADR (air purification capacity).
Activated carbon filter, as the name suggests, contains a large amount of activated carbon, and is also composed of carbon cloth (the service cycle is relatively short). Activated carbon can be said to be inselective in adsorption of substances. Except for some large molecules that cannot enter the pore size of activated carbon, it will adsorb pollutants, odors, and moisture in the air. This is also the reason why the filter will become damp or even have odor after use for a period of time, especially when the indoor air humidity is high.
HEPA filter has limited dust capacity. After using it for a period of time, the filtering and adsorption capacity will also decrease. If it is not cleaned and replaced in time, the wind resistance will increase and the noise will increase, affecting the purification effect. Will the activated carbon filter really cause secondary pollution?
The large specific surface area and highly developed pore structure of activated carbon are the basis of its adsorption. The adsorption methods are divided into physical adsorption and chemical adsorption. When the adsorption amount of activated carbon filter reaches a certain level, the adsorption force becomes weak. If the temperature rises, the pollutants adsorbed on activated carbon do have the risk of re-releasing and causing secondary pollution. Therefore, it is recommended to dry regularly and replace it in time. Is the higher the filtration efficiency of
HEPA filter, the better?
HEPA filter is the main way to remove particulate pollutants (PM2.5, etc.), and it also has a certain filtering effect on bacteria, etc. It can be said to be the core component of the filter. Currently, many air purifiers will choose H13 filters..
H13 is a filtering efficiency of particles with particle size above 0.3 mu;m or above according to EU standards, the filtering efficiency will be very expensive, and filters 1-2 levels lower than it can theoretically be >99% and >95%; the higher the filter efficiency of the HEPA filter, the greater the wind resistance generated under the same wind force, the corresponding energy consumption and noise will increase, and the requirements for air duct air tightness will be higher;
At the same time, large wind resistance will directly lead to a small air output (CADR will decrease), reducing purification capacity. Therefore, comprehensive consideration should be given to the filtering efficiency of the filter. Do not blindly chase high, but pay attention to later cleaning and replacement.
